How We Use AI
Last updated: April 2026Our Commitment to Transparency
Foreign Curiocities uses AI tools as part of our editorial process. We believe in being transparent about how and where AI is involved so you can make informed judgments about our content.
What AI Does in Our Process
Research assistance: AI helps us gather and organize background information, identify cultural context, and surface relevant facts. Think of it as a very fast research assistant — not the final word.
Draft generation: AI produces initial drafts based on structured research briefs. These drafts are starting points, not finished articles.
Quality assurance: AI tools help check for factual consistency, cultural sensitivity, structural compliance, and potential plagiarism. These are automated checks that flag issues for human review.
SEO optimization: AI suggests meta titles, descriptions, and keywords to help our content reach the people searching for it.
What Humans Do
Every article published on Foreign Curiocities is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. Human editorial judgment is the final gate — no article is published without it. Specifically, humans are responsible for:
Verifying factual claims and source credibility; ensuring cultural sensitivity and appropriate representation; editorial voice and quality standards; final approval of all content; and any manual corrections or rewrites.
Our Source Verification Process
We recognize that AI can generate plausible-sounding but fabricated citations. Our QA process specifically flags citations for human verification. For every article, at least three key factual claims are manually spot-checked before publication.
Why We Use AI
AI allows us to cover more cultural topics, across more regions, at a depth that a small team could not achieve alone. It’s a force multiplier for our editorial team — not a replacement for human judgment, cultural understanding, or editorial standards.
